The Age Factor

Going back to last class' discussion about age, here's a brief overview of the research. This looks like a couple of grad students' project, but they do a nice job of explaining ideas, and most importantly, citing research. This could be a good place to start for anyone interested in researching this topic for later study or for any soon-to-be/current parents.

  1. Thanks a lot, Adam, I appreciate that. I'll definitely go through this before class this week.

  2. One Indian couple is my neighbour, they taught there daughter the local Indian language(Marathi, spoken in Maharashtra,India) so that they may preserve there language with coming generation, now the daughter is 2 1/2 year old ,they enrolled her in a kindergarten in Korea...where medium of instruction is either Korean or English....and this kid finds it hard to interact. She is not good with sign language too,she is too young.

At this point it is a dilemma for couples like us.If we speak all the languages ie; Hindi,English,Marathi/Rajasthani at home, what will the child speaking?
    May be some Hinglish language.
To make my kid learn all languages,I might have to speak Hindi for first 6 years, then English for another 3 and ler the regional language...

For myself too,I believe Krashen factor works with me,I acquire more than learning....That is why I know, all the terms used in grocery market but I can't manage in a korean bank...Motivation and interest also works may be.

Thanks for the good share Prof.Adam, Can I share it with my friends in India?

    Regards
